Gacha & Pity System Explained

Understanding pity mechanics and optimal pulling

Arknights: Endfield features separate gacha systems for characters (Operators) and weapons. Understanding pity mechanics, carryover rules, and optimal pulling strategies is critical for building your roster efficiently.

What is Pity?

Pity is a safety net system that guarantees you'll get a high-rarity item after a certain number of pulls. This prevents extremely unlucky players from spending hundreds of pulls without getting anything good.

In Endfield:

  • Some pity counts carry over to the next banner
  • Others reset when a banner ends

Understanding which is which will save you from wasting pulls.

Character Gacha Overview

Character gacha uses Oroberyl as currency.

Pull Type Cost
1 single pull 500 Oroberyl
10-pull 5,000 Oroberyl

Base Character Gacha Rates

Rarity Rate
6-Star Operators 0.8%
5-Star Operators 8%
4-Star Operators 91.2%

These are baseline chances before pity mechanics activate.

Limited-Time Operator Banner (Featured/Chartered Banner)

This is where most players spend their pulls. Featured banners run for limited times and showcase specific rate-up characters.

Pity System Breakdown

1. Guaranteed 5-Star Every 10 Pulls

Every 10 pulls on any character banner guarantees at least one 5-Star Operator.

Carryover:YES — This guarantee carries over between banners.

Example:
Pull 7 times on Banner A → Switch to Banner B → 3 pulls on Banner B triggers the guaranteed 5-Star

When you get a 5-Star:

  • 50% chance: Featured 5-Star character
  • 50% chance: Different 5-Star

2. Soft Pity at 65 Pulls

After 65 pulls without getting a 6-Star, the game activates soft pity. Your 6-Star rate increases by 5% per pull.

Pull Count 6-Star Rate
1-64 0.8%
65 0.8%
66 5.8%
67 10.8%
68 15.8%
69 20.8%
70 25.8%
... ...
80 100% (hard pity)

Carryover:YES — Soft pity carries over between banners.

Example:
Pull 70 times on Banner A without a 6-Star → Switch to Banner B → You start Banner B with increased 6-Star rate

3. Hard Pity at 80 Pulls

If you reach 80 pulls without getting any 6-Star, you are guaranteed to get a 6-Star on your 80th pull.

However: This is where the 50/50 system comes in.

50/50 mechanic:

  • 50% chance: Featured limited character
  • 50% chance: Different 6-Star (either standard or previous limited characters)

Carryover:YES — The 80-pull counter carries over between banners.

Example:
Pull 60 times on Banner A without a 6-Star → Switch to Banner B → Only need 20 more pulls to hit guaranteed 6-Star

4. Featured Character Guarantee at 120 Pulls

This is the ultimate safety net.

At 120 pulls, you are guaranteed to get the featured limited 6-Star character on the banner.

Carryover:NO — This guarantee does NOT carry over to the next banner.

Critical rule:
If you do 119 pulls on Banner A without getting the featured character, those pulls reset to zero when Banner A ends. You'll face a fresh 50/50 on the next banner.

Important notes:

  • Unlike some gacha games, there's no "guaranteed featured character on next 6-Star" system after losing the 50/50
  • Every 6-Star you pull before 120 is always a 50/50 between featured and non-featured
  • You could pull five 6-Stars before reaching 120 and none of them be the featured character
  • The only way to guarantee the featured character is by reaching 120 pulls

Previous Limited Characters in Pool

When a new limited character banner appears, the previous two limited characters remain in the pool.

If you lose your 50/50 on the current banner, there's a chance you might get a limited character from one of the previous two banners instead of a standard character.

Breakdown when pulling a 6-Star:

  • 50%: Current featured character
  • 7.14%: First previous limited character
  • 7.14%: Second previous limited character
  • 35.72%: Standard pool characters

Bonus Systems

Dupe Guarantee at 240 Pulls

For whales or extreme savers, there's an additional guarantee at 240 pulls: you'll get another copy (duplicate) of the rate-up character.

This repeats every 240 pulls.

Free 10-Pull Reward (60-Pull Milestone)

After doing 60 pulls on a limited banner, you receive a Headhunting Dossier.

This gives you a free 10-pull for the next limited banner.

Important rules:

  • You can only get this once per limited banner
  • You must use it on the very next banner or it expires
  • You cannot save these for future banners

Limited Banner Pity Summary

Milestone Pulls Effect Carries Over?
5★ Guarantee 10 Guaranteed 5-Star (50/50) ✅ Yes
Soft Pity 65+ +5% per pull ✅ Yes
Hard Pity 80 Guaranteed 6-Star (50/50) ✅ Yes
Featured Guarantee 120 100% Featured Character ❌ No
Bonus Dupe 240 Extra Copy ❌ No
Free 10-Pull Reward 60 Free 10-pull on next banner N/A

Standard Banner Pity

The standard banner works similarly but with a few differences.

Base Rates and Soft Pity

Same as limited banner:

  • 0.8% for 6-Star, 8% for 5-Star
  • Soft pity at 65 pulls with same 5% increase per pull

Hard Pity at 80 Pulls

At 80 pulls, you're guaranteed a 6-Star from the standard pool.

Unlike limited banners, there's no 50/50 here because all characters on the standard banner are permanent additions.

Carryover:YES — Standard banner pity carries over.

Selector at 300 Pulls

After doing 300 total pulls on the standard banner, you can select any standard 6-Star character of your choice as a reward.

This is a very long-term goal but guarantees you can eventually get your favorite standard character.

Beginner Discount (New Horizons Banner)

The New Horizons banner for new players offers:

  • 20% discount on 10-pulls (4,000 Oroberyl instead of 5,000)
  • Guarantees a 6-Star within 50 pulls

Once you get that 6-Star, this beginner banner disappears.

Recommendation: Pull on this banner until you get your guaranteed 6-Star. It's the most efficient use of Oroberyl for new players.

Standard Banner Summary

Milestone Pulls Effect Carries Over?
5★ Guarantee 10 Guaranteed 5-Star ✅ Yes
Soft Pity 65+ +5% per pull ✅ Yes
Hard Pity 80 Guaranteed 6-Star (Standard Pool) ✅ Yes
Selector Reward 300 Choose Any Standard 6-Star N/A
Beginner Discount Up to 50 20% off + guaranteed 6-Star ❌ No (One-time only)

Weapon Gacha System (Arsenal)

Weapons use a separate currency: Arsenal Tickets.

How to Get Arsenal Tickets

You earn Arsenal Tickets by pulling characters:

Character Rarity Arsenal Tickets
6-Star Operator 2,000
5-Star Operator 200
4-Star Operator 20

Every 10-pull on the character banner guarantees at least one 5-Star and nine 4-Stars, which means you'll always get at least 380 Arsenal Tickets per 10-pull (200 from the 5-Star + 180 from nine 4-Stars).

Alternative: You can convert Oroberyl into Arsenal Tickets at a rate of 30 Oroberyl for 10 tickets, but this is generally not recommended.

Weapon Gacha Rates

The weapon banner has much better rates than the character banner:

Weapon Rarity Rate
6-Star 4%
5-Star 15%
4-Star 81%

A 10-pull on the weapon banner costs 1,980 Arsenal Tickets. You cannot do single pulls—only 10-pulls are allowed.

Weapon Banner Pity

Guaranteed 5-Star Every 10 Pulls

Every 10-pull guarantees at least one 5-Star weapon.

Carryover:NO — Weapon pity does NOT carry over between weapon banners.

Guaranteed 6-Star Every 40 Pulls

After 40 pulls, you're guaranteed to get a 6-Star weapon.

However, there's only a 25% chance it will be the featured weapon. You have a 75% chance of getting a different 6-Star weapon.

Carryover:NO

Guaranteed Featured Weapon at 80 Pulls

After pulling eight 6-Star weapons (which happens around 80 pulls if you're unlucky), you're guaranteed to get the featured weapon.

However, this guarantee only works once per banner and does NOT carry over to the next weapon banner.

Carryover:NO

Special Arms Offering System

There's an additional guarantee system at 100 pulls called Arms Offering.

At 100 pulls, you get a selector that lets you pick any 6-Star weapon except the featured one.

Then every 80 pulls after that alternates between giving you the featured weapon and another Arms Offering selector.

Cycle:

  • 100 pulls: Arms Offering (selector)
  • 180 pulls: Featured weapon
  • 260 pulls: Arms Offering (selector)
  • 340 pulls: Featured weapon
  • And so on...

Buying Weapons Directly

You can buy weapons directly from the shop using Arsenal Tickets instead of gambling.

However: Featured limited weapons cannot be purchased directly—they must be obtained through the weapon gacha.

Standard weapons rotate through the shop and can be bought.

Weapon Banner Summary

Milestone Pulls Effect Carries Over?
5★ Guarantee 10 Guaranteed 5-Star Weapon ❌ No
6★ Guarantee 40 Guaranteed 6-Star (25% featured) ❌ No
Featured Guarantee 80 Guaranteed Featured Weapon (8th 6-Star) ❌ No (Once per banner)
Arms Offering 100 Selector for any 6-Star (except featured) ❌ No
Featured Guarantee 180 Guaranteed Featured Weapon ❌ No
Arms Offering 260 Selector for any 6-Star (except featured) ❌ No
Featured Guarantee 340 Guaranteed Featured Weapon ❌ No

Pity Carryover Rules (Critical Information)

  • Character banner 80-pull hard pity (guaranteed 6-Star)
  • Character banner 5-Star guarantee every 10 pulls
  • Character banner soft pity at 65+ pulls
  • Standard banner pity (same as above)

What Does NOT Carry Over:

  • Character banner 120-pull featured character guarantee
  • Weapon banner 40-pull 6-Star guarantee
  • Weapon banner 80-pull featured weapon guarantee
  • All weapon banner pity

Best Gacha Strategies

For Character Banners

The Golden Rule: Don't pull on featured banners without 120 pulls saved.

Pulling with less than 120 is risky unless you're okay with potentially missing the featured character.

Why this matters:

  • The 50/50 system means you could pull multiple 6-Stars without getting the featured character
  • The 120-pull guarantee is your only certainty
  • If the banner ends before you reach 120, those pulls toward the guarantee are wasted

Optimal strategy:

  1. Save 60,000 Oroberyl (120 pulls) before pulling on limited banners
  2. Pull only on characters you really want
  3. Skip banners if you can't reach 120 pulls
  4. Use the free 10-pull reward from hitting 60 pulls

Exception: Pull on the beginner banner (New Horizons) immediately—it's discounted and guarantees a 6-Star within 50 pulls.

For Weapon Banners

Strategy 1: Don't pull weapons early

Weapons are much less important than characters in the early game. You can clear most content with free weapons.

Wait until you have a solid roster of characters before worrying about weapon gacha.

Strategy 2: Convert Arsenal Tickets carefully

You naturally earn Arsenal Tickets by pulling characters. Never convert Oroberyl to Arsenal Tickets—it's extremely inefficient.

Strategy 3: Buy standard weapons from the shop

If you need a specific standard 6-Star weapon, wait for it to appear in the shop and buy it directly rather than gambling.

Strategy 4: Only pull on weapon banners if you're a whale

Weapon banner pity doesn't carry over, making it a trap for F2P and low-spenders. Only whales should seriously invest in weapon gacha.

How to Earn Oroberyl (Pull Currency)

Source Amount Frequency
Daily Missions ~100 Daily
Weekly Missions ~500 Weekly
Story Missions 500-1,000 per chapter One-time
Events 1,000-3,000 Per event
Maintenance Compensation 300-600 Per maintenance
Login Rewards Varies Monthly
Achievements Varies One-time
Exploration Rewards Varies One-time

Monthly F2P income estimate: ~10,000-12,000 Oroberyl (20-24 pulls)

This means F2P players can guarantee a featured character roughly every 5-6 months if they save diligently.

Common Gacha Mistakes

Pulling on every banner: You won't have enough for guarantees

Save for characters you really want and skip the rest

Stopping at 119 pulls when a banner ends: You lose the 120-pull guarantee

Only pull if you can reach 120 before the banner ends

Converting Oroberyl to Arsenal Tickets: Massive waste of premium currency

Earn Arsenal Tickets naturally from character pulls

Chasing weapons early: Characters matter far more than weapons early-game

Focus on building your character roster first

Pulling on standard banner as F2P: Limited characters are stronger

Use only free pulls on standard banner; save Oroberyl for limited banners

FAQ

Q: Should I pull on standard banner or limited banner?

A: Limited banners almost always. Limited characters are typically stronger, and the beginner discount makes it even better value.

Q: What happens if I don't get the featured character in 120 pulls?

A: Impossible. The 120-pull guarantee means you always get the featured character by pull 120.

Q: Can I get multiple 6-Stars before reaching 80 pulls?

A: Yes. You could get lucky and pull a 6-Star at any time. Soft pity just increases your odds after pull 65.

Q: If I get a 6-Star at pull 30, does my pity reset?

A: Yes. Your counter resets to 0 after getting any 6-Star.

Q: Do weapon banner pulls count toward character banner pity?

A: No. They're completely separate systems with separate currencies.

Q: Should I pull for weapon dupes?

A: Only if you're a whale. Weapon dupes provide small stat boosts but aren't necessary for clearing content.

Q: Can I get a standard 6-Star from the limited banner?

A: Yes. When you lose the 50/50, you might get a standard character instead of the featured one.

Q: Is there a spark system?

A: The 120-pull guarantee on limited character banners and the 300-pull selector on standard banners function similarly to spark systems in other games.
